This is an ancient Chinese art that goes back at least 4000 years and of course many Dynasties. There was not an Emperor who did not use Feng Shui and it would have been disastrous not to do so.
Feng Shui literally translates as:
Feng = Wind = energy
Shui = Water= harnesses or slows the energy down so
as to make use of it.
It is an ancient Chinese art of improving one’s living environment. Feng Shui deals with the flow of energies all around us, particularly in our home, and creating an environment where that energy will gather for the benefit of the people who reside there. The majority of Feng Shui is a mathematical science derived from nature and the components include the study of form, shapes within the environment, Study of the five elements, Chinese Astrology, Flying Stars and an analysis of the Four Pillars of Destiny for the people within the building.
There are five elements from nature which are used extensively in Feng Shui and they are: WATER, WOOD, FIRE, EARTH and METAL.
The elements also represent certain colours which can be either supportive or not supportive to a person.
Benefits of Feng Shui
• Create a healthy and prosperous environment
• Select prosperous sites
for building or buying a home or office
• Design harmonious positioning of
rooms within a home
As with all things in life a BALANCE needs to be established and in Feng Shui this is also true. A balanced existance brings harmony to the mind, people and building. If you have too much of one element it can create over stimulation and too little of one element may cause stagnancy.
The Chinese belief system includes five influential factors affecting our lives.
1. Destiny - Our in born qualities
2. Luck - Our degree of
fortune
3. Feng Shui - Environmental Influences
4. Virtue - How
you proceed through life
5. Wisdom and Education - Our life lessons
According to Chinese philosophy, we cannot change our luck or destiny, but we can change our Feng Shui. Feng Shui is the first of the controllable influences in our lives. In our lives we are influenced by many things, culture, family history, loved ones, social expectations, limitations or qualities as human beings. The Chinese do not separate Feng Shui from man’s Destiny or Luck as this is all part of the Feng Shui equation and consultation as the energy of our physical environment and other life forces energies around us are taken into consideration.
